Hello Combat Box Community,
The server crashed 4 times this morning at roughly 13:45; which pushed the Allies back almost 100km. We are very sorry about this, and have no control over the crashing. We're aware the crashing is extremely frustrating for our player base. It's also frustrating for us @admins. Like, motherfucking frustrating. We have never had these issues in the past, and if the crashing continues; we will bring down the campaign completely. Be aware, this is something we do not want to do at all, but we do not want to continue to frustrate our community.
Regarding the crashing
The server is a beast of a machine - an AMD 7950X3D with 256gb of ram on a server farm in New York. It's barely using 1% of CPU power and barely 10% of memory while DServer and our campaign manager are running. DServer gives absolutely no logs on why it crashes. If DServer was to give error logs, it would make it much easier for us to figure out what's going on, and even provide feedback to 1C. We've turned off every bit of our logic as possible; there's no RCI, there's no in-game chat messages from the server, and other features are turned off too. We're monitoring the network traffic, and there's nothing suspicious there.
Basically, we're unsure of what's going on, and again; if we can't resolve it soon, we will go back to curated missions. I hope everyone in the community understands our position on the matter. If you have any suggestions or would like to discuss further go here: Suggestions for Apollo Campaign…
Regarding what happens after a crash:
Right now, if there's a crash during an Apollo Campaign, we roll to the next day because we feel no one wants to repeat the same day (and redo their campaign progress). This morning's crashes have unintentionally has pushed Allies back almost 100km, so we'll discuss how we want to handle future campaigns, when a mission day crashes. Again, this is extremely frustrating to you pilots, and especially to us admins because we want a fair campaign.
